Introduction to Risk Management for Meetings and Events
Whether planning a board of directors meeting, sales meeting, conference, tradeshow, concert or global sporting event, managing a successful event requires the safety of attendees and staff and protection of the organization’s brand to be of the highest priorities. To ensure these priorities are met, meeting and event planners should have a basic plan in place to manage risk. Identifying the objectives of the event, conducting a risk assessment, implementing risk mitigations, developing a response plan and effectively communicating that plan grants the event staff the capacity to operate as a proactive unit as opposed to taking a disjointed reactive approach in the event of a crisis.
