PACEOS: Philippines- MICE Destination in the ASEAN Region

The MICE industry in the Philippines is thriving. The Philippines has been successfully hosting major international events such as, among others, ASEAN 50 activities, the 6th UNWTO International Conference on Tourism Statistics, and Madrid Fusion Manila.

It boasts of topnotch MICE facilities including the SMX Convention Center, the Philippine International Convention Center, World Trade Center Metro Manila, Philippine Arena, Marriott Manila, Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, and the Iloilo Convention Center. It is also home to world-class tourism destinations such as Palawan and Bohol, which makes the Philippines ideal for MICE especially for incentive travel.

Recognizing the role of the MICE industry in tourism, the Philippine government identified MICE as a key tourism product in the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2016-2022. The push for further progress of the MICE industry is evident in several initiatives both by the public sector, spearheaded by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its attached agency, Tourism Promotion Board (TPB), and the private sector, represented by the PACEOS, that include, among others, drafting of the Philippine MICE Industry Roadmap and the establishment of the Philippine MICE Academy.
