The Global Sustainable Tourism Council® (GSTC®) establishes and manages global sustainable standards, known as the GSTC Criteria. There are three sets: Destination Criteria for public policy-makers and destination managers, Industry Criteria for hotels and tour operators, and MICE Criteria for Venues, Event Organizers, and Events & Exhibitions. These are the guiding principles and minimum requirements that any tourism business or destination should aspire to reach in order to protect and sustain the world’s natural and cultural resources while ensuring tourism meets its potential as a tool for conservation and poverty alleviation.

The GSTC Criteria form the foundation for GSTC’s assurance role for Certification Bodies that certify hotels/accommodations, tour operators, and destinations as having sustainable policies and practices in place. GSTC does not directly certify any products or services, but provides accreditation to those that do. The GSTC is an independent and neutral USA-registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that represents a diverse and global membership, including national and provincial governments, leading travel companies, hotels, tour operators, NGOs, individuals and communities – all striving to achieve best practices in sustainable tourism.

Tourism Economics—an Oxford Economics company—combines deep knowledge of tourism dynamics with rigorous economics to answer the most important questions facing global destinations and corporations. More than 500 companies, associations and destinations work with Tourism Economics annually as a research partner. We bring decades of experience to every engagement to help our clients make better marketing, investment and policy decisions.

Uncommon Conferences was established in 2019 with one simple but powerful mission: Fundamentally transform the way the business world meets and connects.

UC specialises in design and facilitation of unconferences & workshops – across private & public sector organisations. There are few to no PowerPoints, panels, keynotes or firesides on our watch – only carefully designed and hosted small group sessions that involve everyone in the room; not just ‘the experts’. We collectively decide on – and track – our goals for gathering, and work on a tangible outcome (such as an industry report, Confidence Index or group presentations) to capture our time together.

Our gatherings enable you to have real conversations which drive meaningful change. Whether you’re solving an industry-wide challenge or looking to change behaviours internally, we provide a powerful alternative to the usual conference, meeting or workshop; in-person or online. After guiding you through a careful process of discovery and goal-setting, we design an uncommon gathering built around small group discussions, heated debate, immersive activities, joy and discovery. The best part? Everyone leaves with tangible outcomes and genuine connection.

Our clients are savvy, forward-thinking leaders, frustrated with old ways, dynamic, intent on getting the job done, and know the value of building connections with those on the same journey. They include state & federal government departments, NGOs, for-purpose organisations, industry associations, private sector B2B listed companies, and more.
